Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition that you look forward to doing each year? For me, it is painting my own Christmas tree. So I thought I would extend this joy and give myself the challenge of painting 24 Christmas trees to share with you each day in December leading up to Christmas. I have requested your tree pictures from Christmases past, and I have picked a few of my own favorites, and have been painting away getting ready to reveal them beginning December 1!
I will be offering these 8" x 10" paintings for sale at a very special price of $125, and partnering with my favorite frame shop to offer a custom framing option for an additional $55. Keep your eyes peeled come December 1 for the first tree painting! I will be sharing them here on the blog and also on Instagram, and they will be available for sale as they are revealed each day.

As an artist, paintings are a great weakness for me, so I am sure it's no surprise that I have a growing art collection of my own! I didn't own any original art until a few years ago and have slowly acquired pieces as I stumble upon them.......
It's true what designers say, that you should just buy what you love. Somehow the things you love manage to fit together! My favorite piece of art and my first original, was this pencil drawing that I found at the antique mall for $10.

And my next favorite is this photograph by a sweet 11 year old at our homeschool group's annual Entrepreneur Day!

Intrinsic value is not what makes a piece of art valuable; it is what it means to the owner. This painting was a gift from my parents, who had been gifted it by the artist, a personal friend of their's when we lived in England.

I grew up studying this painting, and I am positive it influenced my love of oil painting.
A couple favorites I have acquired from artist friends; one by Rachel Dowd of our barn, and one of a very serene landscape by Glory Paulson.

And finally, my most recent acquisitions, a painting by British artist Clare Bowen and a couple by Emma Perring for my in progress Rogue's Gallery:

I've been working on some new large "Meadows"; landscapes with color that celebrate the fields that surround us in Ohio. Each season brings a different look to the fields: the color of the weeds, the remains of crops, wildflowers. Many of these meadows are a compilation of my favorite bits of landscape put with other favorite bits.
This meadow had a very retro feeling to me, hence "Flower Child Meadow."
