As an artist, paintings are a great weakness for me, so I am sure it's no surprise that I have a growing art collection of my own! I didn't own any original art until a few years ago and have slowly acquired pieces as I stumble upon them.......
It's true what designers say, that you should just buy what you love. Somehow the things you love manage to fit together! My favorite piece of art and my first original, was this pencil drawing that I found at the antique mall for $10.
And my next favorite is this photograph by a sweet 11 year old at our homeschool group's annual Entrepreneur Day!
Intrinsic value is not what makes a piece of art valuable; it is what it means to the owner. This painting was a gift from my parents, who had been gifted it by the artist, a personal friend of their's when we lived in England.
I grew up studying this painting, and I am positive it influenced my love of oil painting.
A couple favorites I have acquired from artist friends; one by Rachel Dowd of our barn, and one of a very serene landscape by Glory Paulson.
And finally, my most recent acquisitions, a painting by British artist Clare Bowen and a couple by Emma Perring for my in progress Rogue's Gallery:
