Christmas Contra Ball

What:  A fun and festive evening of dancing in the contra style; traditional group folk dances.  If you are not familiar with this style of dancing, this video is a good example.

Who: Any homeschooled high school students and/or their parents and friends.  Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend and join the fun.  Our event is being shared word of mouth so if you know of a homeschooled student or family who would be interested, please do share!  We require a commitment to our dress code (see below), registration will affirm your commitment, and organizers reserve the right to refuse admittance for dress code violations.

When:  Saturday, December 13, 7 - 10 p.m.; with an optional, but highly encouraged, morning practice session, 10 a.m. to noon.

Where:  The Schindler Banquet Center at the Athletes in Action Campus, Xenia.  Morning practice session will be held in the Wooden Fieldhouse.

Dress Code:

Gentlemen - Must wear dress shirts and dress slacks or dressier.  Please keep comfort in mind as well as style to enable you to freely participate in dancing.  Comfortable shoes are encouraged!

Ladies - Must wear semi-formal or formal attire.  Because dancing is the primary goal of the evening, please choose an outfit that will enable you to move freely, such as gathered skirts or dresses.  Dresses that are above floor length are best to avoid other's stepping on your dress and ripping it/and/or tripping.  Please wear comfortable shoes; ballet slippers can be a useful option.

The following restrictions apply and will be enforced.

No strapless dresses
No visible cleavage when moving aroundNo low cut neck-lines, even if they are filled with sheer fabric
No shorter than 3 inches above the knee
No bare midriff or side cut-outs
No slits more than 3 inches above the knee
Not overly tight and clingy
Appropriate undergarments must be worn and must not be visible
